About Givo

What is GIVO

GIVO is a Circular Economy company that aims to tackle the problem of plastic waste management in Africa by leveraging advanced technology and modular recycling centers within communities. We operate a women and youth-led business model that aims to make recycling convenient, sustainable, and rewarding.

Climate change adaptation is the process of adjusting to the current or expected effects of climate change. Through our solutions, we manage recyclables, preventing them from entering landfills or water bodies, which in turn aids and promotes climate change adaptation.

Our Sustainable Development Goals include; (5) Gender Equality, (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (8) Good Jobs and Economic Growth, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Consumption, and (14) Life Below Water.

We currently have operations in Nigeria in the following states; Lagos and Abuja, and also in Monrovia, Liberia.

What is a Circular Economy?

A circular economy is an economic system where products and services are traded in closed loops or ‘cycles’. It is regenerative by design and aims to retain as much value as possible of products, parts, and materials.

As a Circular Economy company, we proffer solutions through the following;

GIVO Technology Platform (GTP):

Uses of a suite of advanced technologies to track material flow, emissions, and compliance enabling transparency and finance for the waste management value chain.

GIVO Center:

The GIVO Center is a solar-powered decentralized infrastructure, serving as a local hub that is operated by youths and women, which aggregates, identifies, and processes recyclables from consumers (depositors) into industrial products.

GIVO Foundation:

The GIVO Foundation is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting circularity by educating communities on the value of “waste”. With a focus on experiential engagement, we equip people with practical knowledge and tools to create systemic change;  enabling them to become ambassadors and promoters within communities.

Through the GIVO centers, we collect recyclables directly from consumers, preventing these materials from entering landfills or water bodies. This eliminates the adverse environmental effects, climate change, and health risks associated with indiscriminate waste disposal. Each GIVO center collects up to 90MT of recyclables and these materials are processed into higher-value goods, thereby facilitating a circular economy in Nigeria. In addition, using solar power systems to power Center operations enables us to avoid 2000+ MT of Carbon per Center annually.

Upcycle! At GIVO we give every part of the plastic we collect a second life. We granulate plastic bottles and sell them to manufacturers to reuse so there is less new plastic in circulation, then we use the bottle caps to make items you can use in everyday life like keychains and flowerpots #zerowaste

Eco-Panels

1. What are eco panels made from?

Eco panels are made from 100% neat community-sourced plastics.

It starts with the shredding of the plastics. After this, the palettes are hand-arranged, in order to give each plastic a unique pattern. The palettes are then melted into a full sheet with varying thicknesses.

Eco panels are very versatile and can be used to make a wide range of things: wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, tables, wall partitionings, countertops, wall tiling, shop stands, sinks, and so much more.

Eco panels are very strong and cannot be easily broken by human force. They may only break when subjected to deliberate and very extreme force. On their own, eco panels can stay intact for decades.

Yes, they are very water-resistant, which makes them very ideal for making kitchen and toilet furnitures.

6. Are they heat resistant?

Yes, they are heat resistant and can stand outdoor exposures, unlike most manufacturing materials.

Each sheet is 1.2 x 1.2 meters
Other units:
1200mm x 1200mm
47 x 47 inches

Eco panels come in thicknesses ranging from 5mm to 20mm. The thickness can also be custom-made.

Eco panes are locally made, they are water and heat-resistant, and very easy to work with. You can also customize their colors, patterns, and thicknesses
